Benson Arizona
Located in the historical San Pedro Valley, the town of Benson was founded in 1880 when the S.P.R.R. (Southern Pacific Railroad) came through Arizona. The town was named after Judge William B. Benson a friend of the president of the railroad. Some of the many attractions include The Benson Walking Tour, Cochise’s Stronghold, Gammons Gulch Ghost Town Movie Set, and the Holy Trinity Monastery, the unique caverns at Kartchner Caverns State Park, a working cattle ranch, and many picnic spots.
The San Pedro Riparian National Conservation area offers over 50,000 acres of wildlife, including over 350 species of birds. With over 250 prehistoric and historic sites, the area offers many activities for all members of the family.
