Bouse Arizona
Founded in 1906 by John Brayton Martin, Bouse was originally called Brayton. In 1907 a post office applicant, Thomas Bouse was credited for given this town its current name. Mining thrived in this area from the 1860’s until the 1920’s when the mines finally began to play out. A 2000 census indicated 615 residents made Bouse home.
Today, Bouse is popular for its surrounding mountains (Bouse Hills) and spectacular sunsets. Many historical attractions surround this area as well. A well maintained Plomosa Road offers scenic viewing of Quartzsite, a must see destination.
Approximately 20 miles east of Bouse is a secret Army base, Camp Bouse, which was used to train men with a new “night warfare” tank.
Annual events include the “Bouse Founders Day, Bouse Hills Black Powder Rendezvous, the Desert Brushes Art Show and the Booster Club Spring Fever.
