Brenda Arizona
There is much controversy over the naming of this town but one story suggests it was named after a daughter of Grover and Anna Spitznagel, homesteader in the area in the 1930’s and builders of the Black Rock Building.
Throughout the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s Brenda was a popular stopping place for tourists with a petting zoo on site. After the 60’s the size of the town decreased due to a local mine closure and the opening of Interstate 10, which bypassed the town.
Today Brenda has become a popular stopover for RV’ers and a local store, the “Desert Gem” is a worthwhile stop for travelers.
With a low winter temperature of 40 degrees and a summer high of 100 degrees this community offers much local lore and many scenic attractions.
