Camp Verde Arizona
Located 86 miles north of Phoenix, Camp Verde has some of the oldest and finest historic resources in the area. 40,000 visitors annually come to see the Fort Verde State Historic Park while nearby Montezuma Castle draws over a million visitors to the area every year.
The climate is hot and arid but the summer days are often cooled by monsoon rains.
Established in 1864 as Camp Lincoln, the town later changed its name to Camp Verde in 1868. Camp Verde began as a farming a cattle ranching community and today offers many scenic views and attractions, both recreational and archeological.
Other attractions include the cliff dwellings at the Montezuma Castle National Monument, dating back to the year 1150.
