Chuichu Arizona

Also spelling Chiu Chuschu, is a Papago Village on the Papago Indian Reservation at the north end of the Silver Reef Mountains. The mountains are full of caves so the town is often called Chu Chew, a Papago word meaning “many caves in mountains”.

Whites tend to pronounce the name as “Choochoo” as legend has it that Indians would hear a train arriving, would call it Chuichu which finally evolved into its current name.
