Eloy Arizona
Eloy is a city located along the growth corridor between Phoenix and Tucson in Pinal County, Arizona. It has an elevation of 1,565 feet. It was founded in 1902 and named Eloy when a switch was built in the southern Pacific Railroad about six miles west of Picacho. The east and west half of the Eloy section was purchased by W.L. Bernard, J.E. Mayer and John Alsdorf in 1918. They drilled a well on the east side and subdivided the land and called it Cotton City. Tracts of land on the west were also divided for cotton farming. An application for post office was made in 1919 but the name Eloy was favored over Cotton City.
Eloy has population of 10,535 as of 2004 based on the US Census. The city was incorporated in 1949.
