Kingman Arizona
Kingman City is the County Seat of Mojave County located in northwest Arizona along Interstate 40 and U.S. 93. It is situated midway from Cerbat and the Hualapai Mountain Ranges. It was established by Lewis Kingman in the early 1880’s. He located the route of the Santa Fe railway. Kingman also served as the county seat of Mojave County since 1887. It was incorporated in the year 1952.
Kingman is also known for being along the longest remaining preserved stretch of Historic Route 66. It also received national recognition as a National Scenic Byway. Also known as an All American Highway, people from around the globe visit Kingman to get their “Kicks on Historic Route 66.”
Kingman presently has a total population of 24,600 as of 2004 U.S. Census. It is a regional trade, service and distribution center for northwestern Arizona. Tourism, manufacturing/distribution and transportation were made into leading industries because of it proximity to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Laughlin and Grand Canyon. It also offers a broad range of community facilities such as a museum and library.
