Lake Havasu City Arizona
Lake Havasu City is situated on the east shore of Lake Havasu on the Colorado River border of California and Arizona. It is located on Mojave County, west coast of Arizona. It was founded in 1963 by Robert P. McCulloch as a planned community and also known as the home of the famous London Bridge, a popular tourist attraction in the city. It is an 8 feet deep man-made canal from Lake Havasu that leads to Thompson Bay which was bought for $2.5 million from the City of London in 1968 when the bridge was to be replaced. For another $7 million, the bridge was disassembled, brought to Lake Havasu City and reassembled and opened again in 1971.
The city is currently a choice destination for students during Spring Break. Other regular events such as boating conventions and Western Winter Blast are hosted by the city. Lake Havasu City presently has an estimated population of 53,204 as of 2004 Census. Both the city’s population and property values soared in recent years. It continues to attract hundreds of thousands of tourists every year to its calm waters and beautiful beaches and is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States.
