Lake Montezuma Arizona

Lake Montezuma is an unincorporated town located near the Interstate 17 Highway between Phoenix and Flagstaff. It was founded in 1929 and its name was taken from the nearby famous Montezuma Castle, Montezuma Wells and Indian ruins. Montezuma Castle is a cliff dwelling of the Sinagua Indians and is now a National Monument.

Lake Montezuma, Rimrock and McGuireville, centered in Arizona’s Yavapai County, are part of the Verde Valley. Residents of the three towns are mostly retirees though a lot more young families are moving into the areas due to affordable housing and land costs aside from its nearness to metropolitan Phoenix.

Lake Montezuma has a population of 3,344 as of 2004 U.S. Census. The community presently offers a wide range of facilities which includes the Beaver Creek Golf & Country Club, swimming pool, tennis and a restaurant.
