Mormon Lake Arizona

A dairy farm was started by the Mormon settlers that arrived on the shores of this lake in 1878. The name of the lake commemorates the Mormon settlers that arrived in the area. Mormon Lake is the largest natural lake in Arizona with very shallow waters. It only has an average depth of 10 feet. Its water level fluctuates and even dries out completely during hot summer months. It is located 29 miles southeast of Flagstaff, Arizona. The town of Mormon Lake is on the west shore of the lake.

A picturesque little resort is located on the lake’s western shores. It offers many recreational activities such as biking and horse riding during the summer season and cross-country skiing and snowmobiles on winter season. Located nearby are the Dairy Springs and Double Springs National Forest. It provides excellent hiking trails that lead to a panoramic scenery overlooking the lake and its surrounding areas.
