Nazlini Arizona

Nazlini is small town located in Apache County, Arizona. The name was derived from a Navajo term that mean “crescent” or “crooked because of the shape of the creek in the area.

Long before the “Long Walk” and imprisonment in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, Chinle Valley including the Nazlini area was made use by the Navajos. Most people in the area in the early days were farmers and ranchers who later worked for the railroad and sawmill. Leaders were appointed by the community at that time that worked and planned farming and livestock activities with traders.
