Prescott Arizona
Prescott is in Yavapai County, central Arizona. It is in the middle of the largest stand of Ponderosa Pine in the world. The town was founded in 1864. The government has been a dominant sector in the area’s economy since the time Prescott was founded was the first Territorial Capital of Arizona and the establishment of the nearby Fort Whipple. It is also the county seat of Yavapai County and the headquarters of the Prescott National Forest. The city was named in honor of a noted historian, William Hickling Prescott.
Prescott was incorporated in 1883. It presently has a total population of 40,225 based on 2004 U.S. Census. It is now the center of trade in the region. Abundant retail establishments, professional services and manufacturing plants can now be found in the town. For visitors and residents alike, the town also provides historical and scenic attractions such as the Sharlott Hall Museum and Smoki Museum.
