Located in Maricopa County, Arizona, Sun City is considered as the quintessential retirement community. It began as a partnership between Del Webb and J.G. Boswell who was a cotton farmer. They owned the land of Sun City. The city was founded in 1960. Three-bedroom, two bath houses were sold at $11,300 each when it opened on New Year’s Day in 1960 where it became an instant hit selling 237 units in the first three days.
