Surprise is located along U.S. 60/state Highway 93 in Maricopa County, Arizona. It’s in the fast-growing northwestern part of the Valley of the Sun. It was founded in 1929 by Homer. C. Ludden who named it after his hometown of Surprise, Nebraska.
